Body Piercings
We do not require appointments for piercings, walk-ins welcome!
PIERCINGS FOR ANYONE 17 AND UNDER: minors will need to have their birth certificate, a parent/guardian with ID, and an ID for the minor if possible. If the guardian is not on the birth certificate, we will need a copy of the legal guardianship papers.
Oak and Ember does not currently offer piercing services for male genitalia.
What to Expect…
All clients must have government issued photo ID.
In accordance with Illinois State Law, Oak and Ember requires any minor who wants a piercing to provide their birth certificate. They must be accompanied by a parent/guardian who is listed on that birth certificate (or legal guardianship papers) with their ID.
Our piercers do not pierce infants, and typically will not take clients younger than 7 years old. Occasionally Angie may make an exception if she has determined the child to be old enough to handle the process.
Aside from dermals, Oak and Ember does not offer any surface piercings.
Please be sure to eat prior to your appointment, as low blood sugar can make you more susceptible to passing out.
Standard Aftercare…
Only quality metals are recommended for any/all piercings, especially during healing.
Wash hands thoroughly before cleaning or touching piercing/jewelry; do not touch unless necessary.
Use a sterile saline wound wash 3-5 times per day on both sides of piercing.
Do not use any: rubbing alcohol, bactine piercing spray, hydrogen peroxide, or ointments.
Avoid submerging pierced areas (pools, tubs, lakes, etc.) Running water and showers are fine.
If you wear makeup, be careful not to get any products around the piercings.
Sleeping on healing cartilage piercings can cause irritation and shifts in the angle of the piercing.
Oral Piercing Aftercare…
Rinse mouth as needed (3 times daily) with alcohol-free mouthwash for at least 30-60 seconds at a time.
After eating, rinse with water if mouthwash is not available.
Use sterile saline wound wash for the exterior of piercings (outside of lips/cheeks/etc) 3-5 times per day.
For the first few days, avoid spicy, salty, acidic, and hot temperature foods and beverages.
For the first 30 days, avoid smoking, drinking alcohol, or consuming foods/drinks that contain yeast.
Once swelling has subsided, you may want to change longer jewelry posts for shorter ones, to prevent oral damage or for comfort.
